The method

We comb, thoroughly and in sections, with a comb designed to strip eggs from the hair shaft, and we use an oil that loosens them enough to come free. Nothing in the process depends on a pesticide shampoo. Families in this neighborhood have usually tried two or three drugstore products before calling, which is part of why the infestation is often further along than they realise by the time we arrive.
