Mar Vista sits in the middle of everywhere we work. Venice is west, Culver City is east, Palms is north, and Del Rey is south. Kids here go to school in one of those places and have friends in the others, which is exactly the sort of arrangement head lice does well in.

That geography is also why we are in the neighborhood constantly. We treat lice in the client's own home, so what matters is drive time, and Mar Vista is a short one from almost anywhere on our route.

Booking around a real week

Nobody discovers lice at a convenient moment. It surfaces on a school night, or on a Sunday when Monday is already full. We work evenings and weekends for that reason, and we would rather see you the same week than have you spend four nights combing at the kitchen table with a drugstore kit that was not going to work.

Why one treated child is not enough

Send one child for treatment and leave the rest of the house unchecked and you will very likely be doing this again in three weeks. Lice moves head to head, and by the time anyone notices the itching in one child, the odds are good that a sibling or a parent has already picked it up.

We check everyone. Our pricing is hourly rather than per person specifically so that checking a fourth or fifth head is not a decision about money. What drives the time is hair: length, thickness, and how long the infestation has had to establish itself.

Combing does the work

Treatment is manual. We section the hair and comb it through with a lice comb built for the job, using an oil that loosens eggs from the shaft so they can be pulled clear. No pesticide shampoo, and nothing sold on the promise of killing every egg on contact, because those promises are the reason so many of the families we see have already tried twice.
